LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Public Safety Committee met on Wednesday, August 14. County Coroner Valerie Caylor reported that there were 28 deaths, one autopsy and 21 cremations in the County during July of 2024. Caylor expressed appreciation to the Children’s Alliance of Milwaukee who donated three infant death kits. Sheriff Ken Schneider presented a request for authorization for additional LTE Correctional Officers, as there are correctional officers who are retired or previously worked for the department showing interest to return part time. MERRILL – The Lincoln County Public Safety Committee held their monthly meeting on Wednesday June 12. One item of focus at the meeting was the Emergency Management Plan of Work. After reviewing the report, discussions took place regarding climate change, and the frequency, intensity and severity of storms. It was noted that there is no scientific evidence to prove this is the case. A follow up meeting was then scheduled for Monday June 17th to finalize the document.
