MERRILL MAN ARRESTED ON OWI 4TH OFFENSE FOLLOWING ATTEMPT TO FLEE

TOWN OF PINE RIVER – On Thursday March 6th a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy was sent to the N700 block of STH 64 in the Town of Pine River regarding a report of a property damage crash. Upon arrival he found the crashed vehicle unoccupied and was able to locate the owner’s identification. While he started to search for the driver he returned to the scene with a tractor and pulled the vehicle out. Shortly after this the deputy observed the vehicle in operation on Poplar Rd. He attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver pulled into a private driveway and started to flee on foot. The 53-yr-old male suspect from Merrill eventually complied with the deputy’s efforts to detain him. The deputy observed signs of impairment, so he requested the man complete sobriety tests, which resulted in placing the man under arrest for OWI 4th offense along with resisting/obstructing an officer, and vehicle operator fleeing/eluding an officer. He was then booked into the Lincoln County Jail.
