Lincoln County Public Safety Committee August 14 Meeting Notes
LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Public Safety Committee met on Wednesday, August 14. County Coroner Valerie Caylor reported that there were 28 deaths, one autopsy and 21 cremations in the County during July of 2024. Caylor expressed appreciation to the Children’s Alliance of Milwaukee who donated three infant death kits.
Sheriff Ken Schneider presented a request for authorization for additional LTE Correctional Officers, as there are correctional officers who are retired or previously worked for the department showing interest to return part time. The Committee discussed placing a cap of five positions, more if needed pending further review. The motion to authorize was carried on voice vote.
Merrill Fire Department Chief Josh Klug shared a presentation on Ambulance Service Information, including EMS historical and current
data. The Committee also presented Chief Klug with additional handouts regarding Ambulance Remounts for review.
The Public Safety Committee will meet again on Wednesday, September 11.
