Former Lincoln Hills – Copper Lake Youth Counselor Charged On Two Felony Counts
Lincoln Hills/Copper Lake School youth counselor Evan White has been charged with physical abuse of a child causing bodily harm and substantial battery, both felonies. White, who made his first court appearance Tuesday in Lincoln County Circuit Court is currently free on a $1,000 signature bond
The 44-year-old White injured a 17-year-old female student back on April 15th. The victim was refusing to return to her room following rec time, forcefully resisting White’s attempts to get her to go into the upper day classroom so he could speak with her. The girl said she began to curse at White and got to within 6-10 inches of his face, actually spitting in his face as he attempted to restrain her. This angered White and he placed her in a bear hug. She continued to resist attempts by White and another counselor to escort her to her room. The girl stated that this was when White threw her against the wall and slammed her to the ground, resulting in the right side of her head striking the cell hall wall. She then became dizzy and experienced pain and felt something dripping down the side of her head. Per Court documents, the female victim was then transported to Aspirus where medical staff treated the cut on her eye and supplied her with Tylenol for pain.
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections has confirmed that White submitted his resignation from his duties as counselor at the facility on June 3. If found guilty, White could receive a sentence of at least 9 years in jail and $20,000 in fines.
