LINCOLN COUNTY UA EXPRESSES SERIOUS CONCERNS REGARDING PROPOSED PINECREST SALE PROCESS
LINCOLN COUNTY – People for Lincoln County UA recently raised serious concerns in a letter to the County Board of Supervisors regarding the broker’s role in the proposed sale of Pine Crest Nursing Home. The letter states: “…we have grave concerns that Chapter 19 of the Wisconsin State Statutes, generally the open meetings laws but also including public records and ethical codes, have not been properly followed by Lincoln County’s County Board.” Additionally, the letter pointed out that “It was shocking to hear the video of a recent Portage County Ad Hoc Committee’s March 27th meeting in which we saw and heard Lincoln County’s broker, Ray Giannini, tell the committee details about the sale of Pine Crest that have been withheld from the citizens, taxpayers and voters in Lincoln County.”
People for Lincoln County UA is demanding:
· The Administrative and Legislative Committee be stripped of their authority to negotiate the sale of Pine Crest, and
· That all minutes from the closed sessions regarding the sale of Pine Crest be considered public records and subject to disclosure.
County Board Chair Jesse Boyd responded to their concerns, stating “We had almost a three-hour closed session. Out of closed session we directed the Broker to narrow down the purchase offers for Pinecrest. They are still in negotiations with those prospective buyers.”
People for Lincoln County UA is requesting a pause for a complete review of the process, while the County Board plans to continue their path to identify a potential buyer.
