Highway Toll scams are on the rise again. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles is alerting motorists of attempts by scammers to hit your pocket with fake toll charges. Phishing attempts through text messages claim to originate from WisDot, hoping to lure consumers to click on fraudulent links and share personal information. NO COST VACCINES AVAILABLE FOR QUALIFIERS THROUGH LINCOLN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Health Department is offering no cost vaccines to uninsured or under-insured adults age 19 or over. If you are unsure as to what vaccines you need, the staff at the Health Department can look up your information. Adult Walk-in Vaccine Clinics take place twice a month, and no appointment is needed. EARLY SPRING ICE STORM CAUSES POWER OUTAGES ACROSS THE NORTHWOODS

The early spring wintry mix that hit the Northwoods late Saturday night through Sunday night caused widespread power outages due to downed tree branches and power lines. As of 11PM on Sunday,Wisconsin Public Service reported over 56,000 customers across 17 counties were without power. Crews will continue to work throughout the day on Monday and into the week if necessary until power is restored.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT REPORT IN MERRILL LEADS TO ADDITIONAL CHARGES

MERRILL – On Saturday March 22 at 6:55 PM, Merrill Police officers responded to a call regarding a disturbance at a local bar. A male party had entered the establishment and demanded that a call be made to his landlord before he eventually left. Upon locating the man who was intoxicated, officers identified him and he was arrested for disorderly conduct. MERRILL – Merrill Park and Recreation is reminding residents that per City Ordinance tapping maple trees on the boulevard or city right of way is prohibited. Those who have done so are directed to remove taps immediately, and if they are aware of neighbors who have done so please share this ordinance with them as well. MERRILL – The Merrill Police Department responded to seven incidents last week. There were two accidents in local parking lots, the first a hit and run and the second a motorcycle crash where the driver was cited for operating without a valid license. The Wisconsin Public Service Commission is reminding residents that the annual winter moratorium on utility disconnections comes to a close on April 15th. Natural gas and electric customers who have outstanding bills are urged to make payment arrangements or apply for financial assistance now. The annual moratorium blocks utility companies from turning off residential heat due to unpaid bills, but disconnections can resume after April 15 if no payment plans are in place. LINCOLN COUNTY- Last Week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 44 traffic stops, 31 security checks, and there were three calls involving cars hitting deer. There were 13 reports of unsafe driving. On Saturday March 22nd, deputies were dispatched to the N600 block of CTH X in the Town of Pine River regarding a one vehicle crash with injuries.
