MERRILL – The Merrill Police Department responded to 11 incidents last week, including one report of a domestic disturbance and and five reports of open bond and probation violations. There was one report of property damage where a vehicle had struck a mailbox. There were three accidents, two that happened within a span of 30 minutes where drivers failed to yield right of way. NORTHWOODS CHAPTER OF ICE AGE TRAIL ALLIANCE TO HOST SNOWSHOE HIKE IN THE UNDERDOWN

LINCOLN COUNTY – This coming Saturday February 1 at 10AM, the Northwoods Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance is hosting a guided snowshoe hike in the Underdown area of the Lincoln County Forest. The trail is well marked and packed, and considered ‘moderately difficult’, with routes varying from one to four hours in length. LINCOLN COUNTY – Last Week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 32 traffic stops, 41 security checks, and five calls involving cars hitting deer. There were seven reports regarding unsafe driving. On Thursday January 23, a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle on USH 51 near Lincoln Dr in the Township of Merrill for speeding. Upon making contact with the 66-yr-old driver from Conover, the deputy noticed signs of impairment. VEHICLE STUCK IN DITCH ON STH 86 LEADS TO DRIVER BEING CITED FOR OWI FIRST OFFENSE

LINCOLN COUNTY – Last Wednesday, January 22nd a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the 8300 block of STH 86 regarding a vehicle stuck in a ditch. The driver of the vehicle stated that his dogs had distracted him when he was attempting to turn around causing the incident. Upon making contact with the 47-yr old driver from Merrill, the deputy noticed signs of impairment. MERRILL FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT WEEK ENDING JANUARY 26

MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department responded to 44 calls last week, bringing the total for 2025 to 192 calls. There were 40 calls requesting EMS services. There was one motor vehicle accident Sunday, January 26th on Range Line Rd in the Town of Pine River resulting in a minor injury to the leg of the driver, who declined medical treatment. A call was received regarding a carbon monoxide incident on East Main St in the City of Merrill on Thursday, January 23rd.

TOWN OF MERRILL – Shortly before 3 PM on Tuesday January 21, the Merrill Fire Department and Merrill DNR Ranger were dispatched to the scene of a possible grassfire off of HWY 107. There was black smoke coming from the field north of Tri-Trucking. Three units were sent to the scene, including Brush-66.
