ICE AGE TRAIL ALLIANCE REPORT: HIKERS AND VOLUNTEERS SET RECORDS IN 2024
The Ice Age Trail Alliance has announced 2024 as a record-setting year for both trail users and volunteer efforts. An estimated 4.65 million outdoor enthusiasts explored sections of the 1,200-mile trail, based on data gathered by the Fiscal and Economic Research Center at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The economic impact of this surge in trail activity is estimated to be around $460 million.
This success was supported by the dedicated efforts of volunteers, who contributed a record 103,000 hours to a wide range of trail expansion and improvement projects.
