MERRILL FIRE DEPARTMENT RECOGNIZES TWO WORK ANNIVERSARIES

MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department recently celebrated work anniversaries for two long-standing members. Battalion Chief John Kraegenbrink, a 1995 graduate of Merrill High School, joined the Department in 2002 and is celebrating 22 years of service. John served as President of Merrill Firefighters Local 847 for many years. Battalion Chief Phil Skoug is celebrating 23 years of service to the Merrill Community. Merrill Police Department Report Week Ending November 10

MERRILL – The Merrill Police Department responded to 14 incidents last week. There were five reports of domestic disturbance and disorderly conduct.  There was one report of theft, and one report of attempted blackmail via email.  There was one call leading to an arrest for a probation violation. There were two traffic incidents, one for a registration violation that resulted in the driver fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed and one where the driver had an open warrant for arrest. UTV Crash in Town of Scott Results in Fatality

TOWN OF SCOTT – Wednesday morning, November 13 at approximately 2:00 AM, the Lincoln County 911 Dispatch Center received a call reporting a single UTV crash with two occupants on Scott Rd south of Heldt St, in the Township of Scott. It was reported that the driver of the vehicle was unresponsive. The 32 year old male driver was later pronounced deceased. The 40 year old male passenger was ejected resulting in serious injuries. Lincoln County Sheriffs Office Report Week Ending November 10

LINCOLN COUNTY – Last week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 21 traffic stops, 15 security checks, and 23 calls involving cars hitting deer. There were six calls for unsafe driving. On Friday Nov. 8th, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Leafy Grove Rd and STH 64 in the Town of Corning for a motor vehicle crash with injuries. The driver, a 75-year-old man from Merrill, believed he fell asleep at the wheel. He complained of rib pain and was taken to Aspirus Wausau Hospital by ambulance.

MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department responded to 44 calls last week, bringing the total for 2024 to 1,971 calls. There was one call on Saturday November 9th for smoke or odor removal on E 3rd St in the City of Merrill. There were 37 calls requesting EMS services. A call was received Friday November 8th regarding a motor vehicle accident with injuries in the Town of Pine River on CTH W.

Merrill Man Sentenced to 15 Years for 2022 Fatal Shooting

LINCOLN COUNTY – A Merrill man was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Lincoln County Court on Monday, November 11th for a fatal shooting that took place nearly three years ago. Tanner Graap was arrested for the shooting death of a 28-year-old woman at a Merrill residence in January of 2022. He initially stated that he had unintentionally fired the handgun. Graap pleaded guilty to an amended charge of 2nd degree reckless homicide by use of a dangerous weapon in back in September. Several other charges were dismissed in…

LINCOLN COUNTY – During Veterans Day yesterday, Lincoln County encouraged local residents and businesses to change out traditional white light bulbs for a green bulb, giving honor to the many who have served to defend our great country and protect our freedom. Lincoln County Humane Society Releases Statistics for October

LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Humane Society has released its statistics for the month of October. LCHA received 35 stray animals and 67 were surrendered. Additionally, six cats were transferred from other organizations, and seven kittens were born on site. A total of 52 pets were reclaimed by their owners, while 56 found new homes through adoption. Three animals were euthanized due to health or behavioral concerns, and four were sent to other shelters for adoption.
