Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Report Week Ending October 13

LINCOLN COUNTY – Last week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 42 traffic stops and five security checks. There were nine calls involving cars hitting deer. There were seven calls for unsafe driving. On Monday Oct 7, a deputy stopped a vehicle on US Hwy 8 near Woodland Dr for speeding. The 35-year-old driver from Grand Rapids Mi was found to be in possession of Marijuana, and further search revealed more illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. Temporary Road Closure in Council Grounds Due To Bridge Construction

MERRILL – The road through Council Grounds beyond the Family Campground is closed to vehicle traffic through at least October 24. Crews will be replacing the wooden bridge along the river with culverts, as decking on the bridge has become worn. Replacing just the wood decking unfortunately is not an option as the bridge supports are old and need replacing. The new bridge will also make winter plowing much easier. Park officials are asking hikers to avoid the bridge work area and areas where tree cutting will be taking place…
