Council Grounds State Park Installs New Information Kiosk

MERRILL – Information regarding enjoying Council Grounds and all it has to offer is now more readily available, as a new kiosk has been installed where the River Bend Trail meets the park’s Brown Trail. Lincoln County Health Department Promotes Lead Safe Homes Program

LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Health Department has put out a reminder that while older homes are full of charm and character, they can also sometimes contain lead. County residents who live in homes that were built before 1978 may qualify for the Lead Safe Homes program, which aids in finding and removing lead in homes across Wisconsin. Local Driver Cited for Disorderly Conduct, Passenger Arrested for Felony Bail Jumping

MERRILL – On Saturday September 28th just after 1:00 AM, the Merrill Police Department received several calls regarding a vehicle squealing its tires around the city. Officers quickly located the vehicle and cited the driver for disorderly conduct with a motor vehicle. Upon further investigation, they discovered that a passenger had been drinking, violating the terms of an open felony bond, leading to the passenger’s arrest for felony bail jumping.

Merrill Fire Department to Receive Annual Forest Fire Protection Grant

MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department has announced they will be receiving their annual Wisconsin DNR Forest Fire Protection Grant. This year’s grant totals $2,348, and is designated for Personal Protection Equipment, training, and for the purchase of other tools and equipment. Lincoln County Health Department Promotes Proper Dental Care for Students

LINCOLN COUNTY – Recently the Lincoln County Health Department provided resources to help promote proper dental care to students in 1st thru 8th grade across Lincoln County. Students received a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and a dental magnet reminding them to brush twice and floss daily, limit sugary snacks and drinks, and visit the dentist regularly. Merrill Police Department Report Week Ending September 29

MERRILL – The Merrill Police Department responded to 15 incidents last week. One accident was reported. There were 4 reports of domestic disturbance and disorderly conduct. There were 5 reports for theft and vandalism, Two of those reports were for people stealing political signs from yards. A call was received for suspicious activity. MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department responded to 53 calls last week, bringing the total for 2024 to 1,704 calls. There were 4 calls regarding smoke alarm, carbon monoxide detector and alarm system activation. There was one request to respond to a motor vehicle accident with injuries Monday September 23rd on Center Ave., in the City of Merrill. There were 40 calls requesting EMS services, excluding the one call for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.
