MERRILL – The Merrill Police Department responded to 15 incidents last week. Two accidents were reported. A call was received for trespassing at a local hotel. Officers followed up on four reports of probation violations and active warrants resulting in arrests, One individual was also charged with resisting an officer. Free Well Water Testing Kit Program Expanded to Include Immunocompromised Families in Lincoln County

LINCOLN COUNTY – Lincoln County residents who use wells for their drinking water are encouraged to have annual testing completed for contaminates. The County Health Dept launched a new program earlier this summer that offers low-income families the opportunity to receive a free well testing kit. They are now expanding the program to also offer a one-time free kit to those who are immuno-compromised. There are a limited number of testing kits available through the free program. MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department responded to 51 calls last week, bringing the total for 2024 to 1,613 calls. There were 41 calls requesting EMS services, excluding one call of a motorcycle accident on Friday, September 13th. The accident occurred on US Hwy 51 in the Town of Merrill and resulted in a fatality. Firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Tuesday September 10 on North Center Ave in Merrill. Merrill Hit With Widespread Power Outage on Tuesday September 17

MERRILL – The City of Merrill experienced a widespread power outage on Tuesday, September 17th around 12:20 PM. The outage affected nearly 3500 customers, per Wisconsin Public Service. Service was interrupted due to a downed power line on Logan Ave. behind the River County CO-OP Country Store. The line was clipped by the flagpole atop the old River County Feed mill as it fell to the ground during a scheduled demolition. Power was restored to the majority of the area by 1:56 PM. LINCOLN COUNTY – Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 67 traffic stops last week.  There were 20 security checks. Deputies responded to 8 calls involving cars hitting deer, and one call of a car hitting a bear. Deputies followed up on 9 calls for unsafe driving. TOWN OF ROCK FALLS – The Merrill Fire Department received a call at 3:32 PM on Monday, September 9 with a report of a garage fire at N4459 Mary Todd Court in the Town of Rock Falls.
