MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department responded to 49 calls last week, bringing the total for 2024 to 1365 calls. There was one motor vehicle accident that resulted in injuries. There were 38 calls requesting EMS services, excluding the accident that resulted in injuries. There were two building fires and one vehicle fire. LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Highway Committee met on Thursday August 1. Committee Member Ken Wickham provided and update on the discussions with WisDot regarding ATV and UTV use on state and US highways, specific to use of those vehicles on Hwy 107 in the Town of Rock Falls. Lincoln County Voters Could Help Determine Funding for Pine Crest in November

LINCOLN COUNTY – A referendum which could allow Lincoln County voters to determine the funding for Pine Crest nursing home going forward this fall is under consideration. A special joint meeting of the Lincoln County Board’s Administrative and Legislative Committee and Finance Committee took place early Friday morning, August 9. The majority of the hour-long meeting was spent with supervisors discussing actual operational costs for Pine Crest. Thursday August 8 House Fire in Town of Rock Falls Displaces Homeowner

TOWN OF ROCK FALLS – On Thursday August 8th at 8:14 AM, multiple units from the Merrill Fire Department were dispatched to a house fire on South End Road in the Town of Rock Falls. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department was also on site to assist in the effort. There was only one occupant living at the residence, who was found outside of the home and uninjured. LINCOLN – Lincoln County’s Opioid Task Force is currently in search of two community members who have been affected by the Opioid epidemic to jointheir team as partners, giving them a voice for the many who are impacted by the opioid crisis. MERRILL – The Community Blood Center will bring their Summer Tour for All Types to Merrill’s Northwoods Veterans Post at 601 Johnson St on Thursday August 8 from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. As a part of their MASH-style Blood Drive, they will feature an Army Ambulance provided by Motorama Auto Museum in Anawa. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Report; Week Ending August 4

LINCOLN COUNTY – Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 45 traffic stops last week.  There were 13 security checks. Deputies responded to six calls involving cars hitting deer, one of those resulting in minor injuries to both the driver and the passenger. There was also one report of a car hitting a bear. Deputies followed up on 13 calls for unsafe driving. The sheriff’s office also took a call of a possible funnel cloud north of Walmart, near US HWY 51.
