Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Recognizes Lt Blade Mikula for 10 years of Continuous Service
LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office recently recognized Lt Blade Mikula for 10 years of continuous service to Lincoln County communities. We asked Blade what inspired him to enter the world of law enforcement, to which he replied “Around the time of being 18 I did a ride along with a close family friend. I was able to see how he interacted with his community and those that called for his help. I knew that law enforcement was my calling. Now that I can look back on that day I interpret what that ride along meant and my decision to enter law enforcement differently. I would now say that my reason for entering law enforcement was to be able to help those in their time of need on what is most likely that person’s worst day of their life.”
Mikula was also asked how he balances the emotional demands of the job with his personal life. “I make sure to take the time to separate work and personal life. I make sure to keep a life outside of law enforcement that involves hobbies, friends, and family.” We also asked Blade what advice he would give to others just starting out in their career in law enforcement. “My advice to someone starting out in this career is to stay humble. You will always be learning and growing in this career”.
Lt Mikula graduated from the Police Science program at Northcentral Technical College in 2013. He began his career with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office on August 11, 2014 when he was hired by then Sheriff Jeff Jaeger. Mikula was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant by current Sheriff Ken Schneider in May of 2022.
Lt Mikula also works as a Special Response Team (SRT) member and a Field Training Officer. He has trained a number of the county’s newer deputies and has assisted in a complete overhaul of the Lincoln County dispatch training manual. Lt Mikula was instrumental in expanding the county’s Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) capabilities on the SRT. He has been involved with Project Lifesaver for a number of years. Blade is a CPR instructor and is also a certified TEMS instructor.
