Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Report: Week Ending August 25

LINCOLN COUNTY – Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 45 traffic stops last week.  There were 22 security checks. Deputies responded to four calls involving cars hitting deer. Deputies followed up on twelve calls for unsafe driving.

On Thursday August 22, deputies were dispatched to St Hwy 17 and Gross Ln in the Town of Russell to follow up on a report of a vehicle in the ditch. After arriving on scene, the deputy was able to track down the vehicle owner to his home address, where he was able to make contact with the 62-year-old Gleason man. The deputy immediately detected signs of impairment, so he requested that driver perform some sobriety tests, which the driver refused to follow through with. The deputy then placed the man under arrest for first offense OWI.
