Merrill Police Department Weekly Report: Week Ending August 18

MERRILL – The Merrill Police Department responded to 17 incidents last week.

There were 4 calls for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, with one of those calls reporting a female who was found slumped over in a vehicle that had been left in gear in a local store parking lot. A search of the vehicle revealed prescription medication, methamphetamine and other illegal substances and devices. The suspect was arrested on numerous counts of possession, as well as probation violation. 

Two calls were received for theft. There were two reports of animal disturbances, one with raccoons and the other where a bat had entered a home. Officers captured the bat and released it back into the wild. 

Officers responded to one report where a man was observed consuming alcohol in violation of a bond. He was charged with bail jumping. One welfare check resulted in a woman being arrested for resisting officers.

Two accidents were reported, one a hit and run, and there was also a report of a car hitting a pedestrian. There were two incidents where items that had been lost by local residents were in the process being returned to owners. Officers followed up on a report of illegal substances being found in a recently vacated apartment where the former tenant had been evicted.
