Merrill Police Department Weekly Report: Week Ending August 18

MERRILL – The Merrill Police Department responded to 17 incidents last week. There were 4 calls for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, with one of those calls reporting a female who was found slumped over in a vehicle that had been left in gear in a local store parking lot. A search of the vehicle revealed prescription medication, methamphetamine and other illegal substances and devices. Merrill Fire Department Weekly Report: Week Ending August 18

MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department responded to 59 calls last week, bringing the total for 2024 to 1,424 calls. There was one motor vehicle accident that resulted in injuries, involving a car striking a pedestrian. Merrill police also responded to the scene. There were 46 calls requesting EMS services, excluding the accident where the individual was struck by a vehicle. There was one call with a report of an odor of smoke. Merrill Community Night Out – Tuesday Evening August 20

MERRILL – Merrill’s 12th Annual Community Night Out will take place tonight from 4PM-7PM at the Bierman Building and Merrill Fair Grounds. Free bus rides to and from the event are available with the Merrill-Go-Round, with pick-ups taking place during the 5 o’clock hour, leaving the event at 6:45 to drop folks off. Lincoln County Public Safety Committee August 14 Meeting Notes

LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Public Safety Committee met on Wednesday, August 14. County Coroner Valerie Caylor reported that there were 28 deaths, one autopsy and 21 cremations in the County during July of 2024. Caylor expressed appreciation to the Children’s Alliance of Milwaukee who donated three infant death kits. Sheriff Ken Schneider presented a request for authorization for additional LTE Correctional Officers, as there are correctional officers who are retired or previously worked for the department showing interest to return part time.
