MERRILL – Following a 12-12 finish in the Wisconsin Valley Conference during the regular season, the Merrill Edward Burns Post 46 Legion Baseball Team finished their 2024 campaign just one win short of a State Tournament berth, losing to Medford in the Regional Championship. LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Traffic Safety Committee met on Thursday, August 22. Lincoln County Sheriff Department Chief Deputy Tyler Iverson noted crash data for this quarter is trending up, mostly due to car vs. deer incidents. Lincoln County Opioid Task Force August 14 Meeting Summary

LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Opioid Task Force met on Wednesday, August 14. Merrill Police Department Report: Week Ending August 25

MERRILL – The Merrill Police Department responded to nine incidents last week. One call was received for theft. There were two calls for disorderly conduct with one of those calls on Aug 22 reporting that three teenagers were lighting fireworks at a local playground resulting in a grass fire. The teenagers fled the scene, and the caller was able to extinguish the fire. LINCOLN COUNTY – Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 45 traffic stops last week.  There were 22 security checks. Deputies responded to four calls involving cars hitting deer. Deputies followed up on twelve calls for unsafe driving. On Thursday August 22, deputies were dispatched to St Hwy 17 and Gross Ln in the Town of Russell to follow up on a report of a vehicle in the ditch.
