Lincoln County Highway Committee July 10 Meeting Summary

MERRILL – The Lincoln County Highway Committee held their monthly meeting on July 10th in the County Service Center. Two discussions took place surrounding Highway 107. The route is now open for ATV / UTV use on the stretch that passes through the Town of Rock Falls. Committee member Ken Wickham said WisDOT has reported that they do not currently support lowering the speed limit on that stretch of road. He explained their reasoning, and the steps that would need to be taken to lower it including the statutes covering roads and bridges. Wickham said that he will draft a Resolution for a traffic study, and he will present it to the team at their August meeting.

Interim Commissioner Jason Lemmer announced that the state plans to mill and overlay Hwy 107 in 2026. Lemmer also shared in a manpower update that the highway department is currently down three employees. The department is currently working with one of its recent hires to move their class B CDL endorsement to class A, which will allow the new team member to operate more equipment.

Highway department team member William Plautz was recognized for 10 years of service. The next highway committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday August 1. More information from Lincoln County committee meetings can be found on the County website at co.lincoln.wi.us.
