Merrill Police Department Report, Week Ending June 2nd

The Merrill Police Department responded to 14 incidents this past week. One call was for a vehicle crash involving a local residence. Four calls came in for theft, 1 from a vehicle and 3 from local businesses. There was 1 traffic stop that involved alcohol, ending with a refusal to test and an arrest for OWI. Tuesday evening, May 21, 2024 at approximately 8PM a powerful weather front bringing severe thunderstorms including heavy rain and high winds moved across the Northlands, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a tornado warning for Marathon County, soon followed by a tornado warning including Lincoln County. Vehicle Crash In Merrill On Monday Leaves Two Injured

A crash involving two vehicles occurred Monday evening June 3 at around 5 PM at the intersection of East Main Street and Pine Ridge Ave in Merrill. There was severe damage to the front of both vehicles. Neither were able to be driven so both were towed from the scene. Two people were injured and were transported to a local hospital. Merrill Police are investigating the accident. No cause has been determined at this time.

Pine River Fire Department crews responded to an early morning structure fire just east of Merrill on Town Line Rd on Saturday, June 1st. As crews arrived, they found that flames were shooting from the roof and front of the single-story home. The fire was controlled quickly, and Firefighters continued to extinguish hot spots throughout the morning. Initial investigations are pointing towards the bedroom of the family’s 3-month-old daughter as the location where the fire started.
