MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department responded to 63 calls during the week ending June 16. This brings the total for 2024 to 1005 calls. One call was for a motor vehicle accident resulting in an injury. There were 54 calls requesting EMS services, excluding the accident that resulted in injury. A call came in reporting a building fire, and there was one call reporting the odor of smoke. Two calls were canceled en route.

Two public involvement meetings have been scheduled, with the first taking place last night at the Lincoln County Service Center. The second meeting is scheduled for next Thursday June 27th in Wausau. The trail project should link not only the two cities but eventually continue on to Tomahawk and connect with the Hiawatha and Bearskin trails, leading trail-seekers well into the Northwoods.
