Two of Merrill High’s Girls Soccer team members, Addelyn Elliott and Anna Bowe received All Conference Honorable Mention recognition for the 2024 season. Being recognized by their peers is no small feat, especially in the highly competitive Wisconsin Valley Conference. Congratulations goes out to both ladies for receiving this honor.

The Merrill Bluejay Varsity and JV Trap teams ended their seasons on a bang, with both squads capturing their respective Conference Championships. The varsity team ended the season with a perfect record, going undefeated through all 9 weeks of competition. The Bluejays faced Rhinelander High in their final week of regular season, and they took the win, 119-111, securing their perfect season. Pine River Fire Department crews responded to an early morning structure fire just east of Merrill on Town Line Rd on Saturday, June 1st. As crews arrived, they found that flames were shooting from the roof and front of the single-story home. The fire was controlled quickly, and Firefighters continued to extinguish hot spots throughout the morning. Initial investigations are pointing towards the bedroom of the family’s 3-month-old daughter as the location where the fire started.
