Firehouse Subs Planning New Location In Weston

WESTON – Plans are in place for a new Firehouse Subs location to be built in Weston. It’ll be on Schofield Avenue. Firehouse Subs is known for giving out large grants through it’s Public Safety Foundation. With a new location coming to Weston, now other fire departments in the Wausua region can get the help they need. The Weston Village Plan Commission needs to approve the site plans, which would then go to the Village Board for final approval.

Alzheimer’s Association To Host Event On Awareness Of Warning Signs Of The Disease

The Alzheimer’s Association will be hosting a 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s program later this month. The program, which focuses on recognizing the common signs of Alzheimer’s disease, will be held on Tuesday, May 21st from 1PM to 2:30 PM at the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Oneida County. The program offers tips for how to approach someone about memory concerns, & the importance of early detection & benefits of diagnosis.

Tomahawk Historical Society To Focus on Fund Raising For Future Construction

TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Historical Society is launching a fundraising project to help fund construction of another building at their Washington Square complex to house an antique print shop and a Tomahawk Boat Manufacturing Company exhibit. The Historical Society is currently planning to construct the approximately 5,000 square foot building behind the kindergarten classroom museum. The city’s Park and Rec. Committee gave their blessing on the construction in March. Next up is focusing on money raising efforts, which will take place throughout the summer.
